Lovingly Restored 1962 Mid-Century Fallout Shelter w/ Fully Functional Blast Door

Sealed underground space · No egress if blast door engages · Radon testing pending
Connie spent three years restoring every single detail of this shelter to its original 1962 glory and she is genuinely, deeply proud of the result. The blast door seals are still fully functional, which she considers a premium amenity in a market full of properties that lack working blast doors entirely. The canned goods display she calls thematic decor and she arranges it herself before every booking. Guests say it's the most restful sleep they have had in years, which Connie says makes complete sense given the sound isolation.

The 1962 restoration is impeccable. Connie's attention to period detail is extraordinary. The canned goods display is genuinely delightful.

The blast doors sealing correctly is such a premium amenity and I mean that sincerely. Connie has made something real and rare here.

Slept the most restful sleep of my life forty feet underground in a restored fallout shelter and I have no complaints whatsoever. Perfect stay.

The blast door seal sound when Connie demonstrated it was extremely satisfying. The canned goods art installation made us genuinely emotional. A masterpiece.

Mid-century design executed with obsessive precision. Connie knows everything about this shelter's history and her enthusiasm is irresistible.

The thematic decor made me feel genuinely prepared for scenarios I was not previously prepared for. Very cozy. Very 1962. Very Connie.

The blast door seals correctly from the inside. Less clear about from the outside. Minor note. The interior is absolutely stunning and Connie is lovely.

The external release is the second lever from the left — it's in the laminated card on the wall! Updating signage to make it more obvious. So glad you loved the interior.

We did a full Cold War immersion weekend and Connie supported it completely. She brought a period-appropriate soundtrack. Outstanding.

The blast door sealed us in for four hours because we missed the release lever. This is described nowhere prominently. The shelter itself is exquisite and Connie was very responsive once she could hear us.
Response from host
The release lever card has now been resized to A4 and laminated in bright orange — I hear you and the signage is fixed! Truly sorry about the four hours. The good news: you were very safe in there.

Connie's shelter is the most uniquely thoughtful accommodation I have encountered. The '62 aesthetic is committed to in every detail. Five stars.
